Usage Example

Sep 16, 2011 at 2:33 PM

Here is how I have used the 02.00.00 module.  Just thougth I would share.

  • Created a page for the Forgotten User module called Name.
  • Created a page for Login.
  • Added a script to the footer of the Login module on the Login page.
  • Added some CSS to portal settings.

<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
	$('<LI><A class=dnnSecondaryAction href="http:/Name.aspx">Retrieve User Name</A></LI>').appendTo('ul');

Thanks Greg, interesting usage. have you tried this on DNN6 in the new popup login dialogues? I'm interested how to make something usable on my site when I move it up to DNN 6.

By the way I would have uploaded a new version that works on DNN 6 last night, but CodePlex wasn't playing. Hope to get it done tonight/tomorrow.

I've now uploaded 2.1.1 which should now work on DNN 6

It has been a struggle, but I have it working with the popup loging dialogs on DNN6.

Create a page the Forgotten User module and note the tabid of the page and mid of the module.
No need for a Login page.
So to enable the script, I added it /DesktopModule/Admin/Authentication/Login.ascx.  Mabye there is a better way, but I did not want it running on every page.

<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
	if (jQuery(location).attr('href').search(/<PART OF URL>/i) > 0) {
		$('<LI><A class="dnnSecondaryAction" href="javascript:void\'http://<URL>/Home/tabid/337/mid/920/Default.aspx?returnurl=%2fHome%2ftabid%2f109%2fDe

fault.aspx&amp;popUp=true\',/*showReturn*/true,300,650,true,\'\')">Retrieve Username</A></LI>').appendTo('ul');

The script is a litte different.
<PART OF URL> specifies which website (portal) this is for.
tabid and mid are from the page with the module.

I changed the CSS to make the table width 100%.
